About Erie, Colorado

Erie was settled around 1867 by the Rev. Richard Van Valkenburg, a Methodist pastor who named the town after his hometown, Erie, Pennsylvania. In 1874, Erie was incorporated.

The completion of the Northwest Parkway with E-470, located just two miles from Erie, has cut travel time to Denver International Airport (DIA) down to thirty-five minutes. This has made life a lot easier for residents and visitors alike. The Erie Municipal Airport provides a full range of services for corporate and general aircraft
