About the town of Lyons
Nestled close to the mountains, north of Boulder and west of Longmont, Lyons was founded in 1880 by E.S. Lyon. The town bought 160 acres of land that was then formed into the Evans Townsite Co., and the Lyons Rock and Lime Quarry. The railroad extended into the small community in 1884, and by 1891, it was a municipality.
